Being a nomad and a citizen of the world has its own rewards. I was born in Pakistan, I studied in the United States and now Latin America is my home. This juxtaposition of different cultures has awakened my sensory perception to its infinite end. I feel like a time traveler going in and out of different times and cultures. My ideas are inspired by everything around me and l look  for a common ground amongst all this.

 

Mixed Media gives me an ideal playground to experiment and create a coherent dialogue between my ideas and the audience. My initiation as a classically trained painter clashes frontally with the technology available today. I do not see that as a limitation and I do not feel that it offers me a greater opportunity to express myself. I constantly change my means of expression using painting, drawing, collage, photography and installations together or separately, depending on which side of the bed I get off on that day.

 

My true intention is always to capture my raw reaction to which I once find myself feeling and document the way it changes me or how I change it. My creative process seeks a total implication, with what surrounds me. I feel that my surroundings have changed me as I have changed them as work. It is a documentary of my trip through life. I feel, encapsulate the moment and I share. In a broader sense that my work is more autobiographical than a simple combination of colors or patterns. Images, words, colors, smells, sounds and sensory perceptions are an integral part of my creative process. I seek to communicate all this in a two-dimensional way. I want the audience to perceive the same emotions that I have felt during the creation of my work.
